What kinds of research will Merrill Open Minds offer?
Merrill Open Minds will provide two categories of research resources: (1) services applicable across all industries -- expertise regarding legal proceedings, accounting issues, environmental issues, legislation, government actions, investigatory skills and channel checks; and (2) deep fundamental expertise regarding specific industries, including industry data.
Will Merrill Open Minds research compete with Merrill Lynch’s proprietary research offering?
No.  Merrill Open Minds products are additive to Merrill Lynch's research offering.  Merrill Open Minds is not associated with third-party research that includes stock-specific performance evaluations or analysis or discussion of the investment value of any security.
How will I get access to this product?
Merrill Lynch institutional sales (Generalist and Specialist) will collaborate with the Merrill Open Minds team to identify the right products for the right clients. As new resources are added to the Merrill Open Minds platform, Merrill Open Minds will update the Merrill Lynch sales force about what providers have been added, what products they offer, and their relevance to potential client need.
How do clients pay for these third-party resources?
Clients can subscribe to this research as they would for any research provider, making payment directly to the provider or by using their soft dollar facility, preferably by trading through Merrill Lynch.
